Where I Can Help the Most
BULLYING

Victims of bullying tend to find themselves living in constant fear, and oftentimes their schoolwork, athletic performance, and home and social lives become affected. Through therapy, victims benefit from learning healthy ways to address and prevent victimization and are given a platform to discus their feelings. In addition, people who bully are in need of specific tools and education. Oftentimes, those who are bullying others may not have developed proper communication skills, could lack self esteem, or are being bullied themselves. It is important to work with both the victim and the bully to address, correct, and prevent this prevalent issue.

GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT

Experiencing the death of a loved one can be very confusing, traumatic, and frightening, especially for a child or teen. Losing someone can be a difficult topic to discuss, and when it is talked about, it can be a struggle to feel understood. It can get even more complicated in cases of "ambiguous loss," where one may not experience the death of a loved one, but a psychological or debilitating change that transforms someone we once knew (i.e. paralysis, traumatic brain injury, etc.). It's important to understand that grief is an individual process that impacts everyone differently. It's beneficial for youths to work with a child therapist to create a safe, comfortable, and professional environment for clients to address their grief, while introducing coping tools that are essential to the healing process.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

There’s nothing wrong with feeling angry once in a while. Anger is a completely natural emotion. However, we must consider how we are expressing that anger. For some, it is difficult to process or communicate their emotions, so they stuff everything deep inside until it becomes close to unbearable. This can lead to an explosion of anger or rage when a situation is escalated or a person is triggered by someone or something. Through education, role-play scenarios, and the practice of emotional control, I help clients become aware of their feelings, identify triggers, and assist them in learning how to process emotions in a healthy and constructive manner.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Conflict exists everywhere. We experience it in our schools, offices, homes, relationships, and even within ourselves. Mismanaged conflict can lead to built-up tension and aggression, but when addressed in a healthy, positive way, it can create space for more fulfilling relationships and feelings of satisfaction. Learning how to diffuse conflict, rather than avoiding it or letting it fester, is a skill that is useful to everyone and can be achieved through proper communication and a willingness to understand and address the needs of others, while remaning confident and assertive in ourselves.

ATHLETIC CONFIDENCE

Participating in a sport, whether on a team, or as an individual player, can be an extremely fun and rewarding experience. However, many times, as an athlete's performance progresses, so do physical and emotional demands. These demands can be tasking and can lead an athlete to ask questions like, "Am I good enough?" "Will I let them down?" "If only I had done this differently." When self-doubt takes over and athletic confidence becomes affected, it's important to stay focused on hard work and achievements, alleviate stress and anxiety, and persevere to achieve full athletic potential.
