THE T.R.U.C.E. PROJECT
Helping Build a Solid Foundation for Tomorrow
HISTORY

After years of working with children and teens in school and athletic settings, I noticed that many students had a tendency to focus so closely on the few things that separated them, rather than the many things that connected them. I began working with students to bridge divides by having them focus on their commonalities, while also taking pride in the things that made them unique.
In 2000 I played college football with a group of men from all walks of life. We came together to accomplish one goal- to be a great team. We achieved it by using the same strategies I'd implemented with kids over the years; we made a point to learn and work together as a team, while also leaning on and highlighting each player's unique talents. Owning our abilities both as a team and as individuals allowed us to support each other in ways that made us strong where other teams fell short.
A few years later I came up with the concept of what is now "The T.R.U.C.E. Project," a program that focuses on our ability as humans to demonstrate tolerance for one another, take responsibility for our actions, create unity amongst our peers and neighbors, communicate our feelings and needs, and empower each other to lead by example.
The T.R.U.C.E. Project allows participants to take an honest self-inventory on how their personal experiences have shaped how they view others and the world around them and encourages them to question whether their conditioned views align with who they truly are or want to be.
Today, as a child therapist, I work to implement The T.R.U.C.E. Project in schools throughout the South Bay to introduce elementary through high school-aged students to its guiding principles and how to incorporate them into their daily lives. The T.R.U.C.E. Project has also helped private groups, organizations, and athletic teams move past conflict and thrive.
MISSION

The T.R.U.C.E. Project® creates a safe environment that allows children and teens to openly express themselves and teaches them how to respect each others' differences. By explaining the importance of Tolerance, Responsibility, Unity, Communication, and Empowerment, The T.R.U.C.E. Project® is dedicated to helping kids build a stronger sense of self and develop a better understanding of the world around them.
VISION

The T.R.U.C.E. Project® envisions a judgment-free world in which children and teens can foster thought-provoking discussions, peer-acceptance, and individual growth; where students will learn how to take responsibility for their words and actions, participate in effective communication, and successfully resolve conflict situations.
